Mechanical seal in centrifugal pump

What is a mechanical seal?

Mechanical seal is a general term for a seal face with a mechanical structure, and it is intended to completely prevent leakage after the rotating and fixed parts come into contact to form a sealing surface.

Mechanical Seal is applied to sealing various liquids and gases such as water, oil, acid, alkali solution and air, and it maintains a long life even in high pressure and high speed environments. Abrasion of the shaft does not occur due to the structure of the seal, but the price is high.

The role and purpose of the Mechanical Seal

When transferring fluid or gas using rotational force, there is a place in contact with atmospheric pressure between the shaft casings, and the main purpose is to most effectively seal the leakage in this contacting area. It is mainly used for agitators, pumps, compressors, mill mixers, etc. that transfer liquids, and is used throughout chemical products and industrial machinery.

Types of Mechanical Seals (Classification by Seal Arrangement)

- Single Seals (Plans 01, 02, 11, 13, 14, 21, 23, 31, 32, 41)

- Double Seals (Plans 52, 53A, 53B, 53C, 54)

- Quench Seals (Plans 62, 65)

- Gas Seals (Plans 72, 74, 75, 76)
